The Baltic+ course is a joint initiative of the National Meteorological Services of Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Poland, who join forces in order to increase the knowledge in skills in the use of satellite observation data and to create a platform for exchanging ideas, applications and knowledge.

The core topics at the course in 2018 will be: operational use of satellite data; the use of different satellite products derived from the SAF network and the latest multispectral environmental satellite applications. The course will also focus on communication between different national meteorological services, the media and the general public from a forecaster's perspective.

The online phase of the course will take place 19 February - 9 March 2018, followed by a classroom phase 20-22 March 2018.

The 2017 course will focus on improving skills in monitoring the summertime convection. 

The online phase of the course will take place 13 February - 3 March 2017, followed by a classroom phase 14-16 March 2017.

Institute of Meteorology and Water Management - Polish Research Institute (IMGW-PIB) in cooperation with EUMETSAT is organizing a training workshop Baltic+ on the “Practical use of EUMETSAT products together with NWP data” in Warsaw, which will be held from 15 to 17 March 2016.

The workshop will focus on practical issues using EUMETSAT data in detecting fog, low clouds and freezing precipitation, also using both satellite and numerical weather prediction model data in nowcasting and warnings.

Estonian Environment Agency (ESTEA) in cooperation with EUMETSAT is organizing a training workshop Baltic+ on the “Practical use of EUMETSAT products together with NWP data” in Tallinn, which will be held from 17 to 19 March 2015.

The workshop will focus on practical issues using EUMETSAT data in detecting the frontal structures and cyclone development, also using both satellite and numerical weather prediction model data in nowcasting and warnings.
