In this short course we will discuss 5 principles for teaching skills (Merril, M. D (2002) for teaching skills online. We will mainly show examples from teaching satellite applications. The short course will consists of webinar followed by a guided design process for those who have active courses to design. Merrill's 5 principles - Learning is promoted when:
1. learners are engaged in solving real-world problems.
2. existing knowledge is activated as a foundation for new knowledge.
3. new knowledge is demonstrated to the learner.
4. new knowledge is applied by the learner.
5. new knowledge is integrated into the learner’s world.-
