The meeting venue

The meeting will be held at the Colorado State University (CSU). We will meet in the Lory Student Center (LSC), room 312 (see map at the end of this document). The address of the venue is:

LSC is about 10 minutes walk from the hotel Best Western University Inn, and 13 minutes walk from the hotel Hilton Fort Collins. Please see the maps at the end of this page for walking directions.

Tea/Coffee Breaks and Lunches   

Tea/coffee breaks will be kindly provided by the host and are arranged for mid morning and mid afternoon.

Participants will be responsible for their own lunches (except for Thursday) A food court is located in the “200 Level” of LSC, offering various options of restaurants. In addition, a few microwave ovens are available in the “100 Level” (near CSU Bookstore), and you are welcome to use them if you wish.

Social events  

The host will offer an informal Ice Breaker on Monday 16 July. This will take place early evening, just after the meeting (around 18:00 local time). The event will be held in the Longs Peak room (LSC, room 302).

On Tuesday, 17 July, EUMETSAT will offer a meeting dinner to participants of VLMG-9. This will take place at Jay’s Bistro. More information, including menu and directions to the restaurant will be shared with participants during the meeting.

 

Off-site activities - Thursday 19 July

On Thursday, 19 July, we will be meeting at CIRA. Transport will be provided from hotels Best Western University Inn and Hilton Fort Collins. Lunch will be provided at CIRA on this day. 

 

Banks and ATMs

In Fort Collins, banks are open Monday to Thursday from 09:00 to 17:00 and Fridays from 09:00 to 18:00.  ATM machines generally found in some gas stations and next to banks. LSC also has an ATM on the “200 Level” (close to the Bookstore).

You will find that most stores and restaurants accept major credit cards. 

 

Power Supply

The power voltage in Fort Collins is 115 volts, and frequency is 50 Hz.  The electrical sockets most commonly found are Type A and B outlets (see picture below).

Internet Access

Wireless Internet Access will be available in the meeting room at LSC. Participants will be provided with a password on the first day of the meeting.

The standard time zone in Fort Collins in July is UTC/GMT - 6 hours. 

 

Emergency services                                                

If you need emergency medical assistance during your trip, dial 911 and ask for an ambulance. You should contact your insurance/medical assistance company promptly if you’re referred to a medical facility for treatment.

 

Local transport

A convenient way to go North and South in town is to take the Max bus.  Max runs along Mason St. and along the east side of campus.  It is part of Ft. Collins TRANSFORT
