Visa Requirements

Germany, as a member state of the Schengen Area, permits the nationals of 62 countries part of the visa-waiver program to enter its territory without the need to obtain a visa first. 

Even if you are not a national of one of the countries participating in the visa-waiver program mentioned above, there are still chances you may not need a visa to visit Germany. Please see more detailed information at https://www.germany-visa.org/do-i-need-a-visa/

 Upon request, an invitation letter from the host can be provided in case it is needed for the visa application. Please contact: training@eumetsat.int


Travel arrangements

Frankfurt International Airport (IATA Code: FRA) is located about 30 km from Darmstadt, making it the best gateway option for meeting participants.

From Frankfurt Airport to Darmstadt

You can reach Darmstadt using a shuttle bus or taxi.

 

Air-Liner shuttle bus

The AirLiner shuttle operates regularly from both terminals from Frankfurt International Airport to Darmstadt. Pick-up points are located at:

  • Terminal 1 – bus stop in Terminal 1, stop #14,  at arrival level
  • Terminal 2 – bus stop at Exit E8

Tickets are acquired directly with the driver.

Insurance

You are advised to take out comprehensive travel and medical insurance before you travel, and have accessible funds to cover the cost of any medical treatment.

If you need emergency medical assistance during your trip, dial 112 and ask for an ambulance. You should contact your insurance/medical assistance company promptly if you’re referred to a medical facility for treatment.

 

Local laws and customs

You don’t have to carry your passport with you while in Germany, but if you’re asked to show your passport and you don’t have it with you, the police may escort you to wherever your passport is being kept so that you can show it to them.
