How do I login to the site?

The login link is now placed in the upper right corner, above the main upper menu bar.

  1. Click on the login link and then the ‘Login page’ will be opened.
  2. Insert your username and password.
  3. You can access your Profile page and courses you have been subscribed to.
How can I apply for an account?

You can create an account by yourself.

  1. In the upper right corner click on the login link and then the ‘Login page’ will be opened.
  2. On the right hand side click the Create new account button.
  3. Fill in the registration form and the confirmation link will be sent to the email account you indicated.
  4. Click on the link you received via email to confirm your account.
  5. Login to the site using the username and password you have inserted.
I lost my password. How can I recover it?
  1. Go to the Login page and click the Forgotten your username or password? link.
  2. Insert your username or email address into the related box and the new password will be send to you via email.
How do I change my Profile?

You can access your Profile page only once you have logged in. In order to modify your profile:

  1. After you have logged in, click on your name which appears in the upper right corner and your Profile page will appear.
  2. On the right hand side in the Settings block > My profile settings, click on the Edit profile link.
  3. Your Profile page will be opened in the edit mode. Make modifications and click the Update profile button.
Where is the list of all the courses?

The list of all the courses which was displayed in the middle part of the front page is now accessible from the upper menu bar. In order to go to the course:

  • In the upper menu bar click Courses, then select the proper category (e.g. Meteorology) and the list of courses under this category will be displayed.
Where can I find the area reserved to the Centers of Excellence?

The list of all the Centers of Excellence which was displayed in the middle part of the front page is now accessible from the upper menu bar. In order to go to the course:

  • In the upper menu bar click Centers of Excellence, then select the proper center (e.g. Nairobi) and the list of web pages dedicated to this center will appear.
Where can I find VLAB project page?

In order to access the VLab project page, in the upper menu bar click on the "VLab" tab, then the list of web pages dedicated to VLab will appear. Select the one you are involved in.

Where can I find the list of the courses I am subscribed to?

When you are logged into the site, you should see the “Navigation” block on the left hand side. Expand the “My courses” link and the list of the courses you have been subscribed to will appear. Click on the course title to open the course page.

You can have an overview on all the courses you are taking on the Course Overview page. You can access it from the Navigation block > My home.

How to apply for the event displayed in the Upcoming EUMETSAT Courses?

There are different ways to apply for courses. The most common way is to fill in the “Apply for Course” form. In order to access it,

  1. In the upper menu bar click the “Apply for Courses” tab, then from the list of available courses select the one you would like to be enrolled.
  2. Fill in the “Apply for Course” form and click Submit.
  3. You will be contacted by us if your candidature was successful.

Note: If there is no application form available for the course you are interested in either the registration process has been closed or the registration is not publicly open. In this case we suggest you to contact us for more information at OPS@eumetsat.int.

What is the difference between Upcoming Events and Upcoming EUMETSAT Courses?

The Upcoming Events calendar displays different events available for those who are interested in the weather training. There are some events organized by EUMETSAT or other institutions. The Upcoming EUMETSAT Courses shows exclusively future courses organized by EUMETSAT.

I am a teacher in the course and I would like to upload training materials. Where can I find the 'Files' folder?

The new Moodle has different files management solution. The Files folder has been removed from the Administration menu in the course. In order to add a new file:

  1. Go to the course you are a teacher in.
  2. In the Settings block click Turn editing on.
  3. In the main course area select Add resources > File.
  4.  In the Content section, click Add and the File picker wizard will appear.
  5. From the list on the left hand side select Upload a file option, Browse for a file you want to upload and then click the Upload this file button.
  6. Fill in the file proprieties and then click the Save and return to course button.

Note: When the course is in the edit mode, you can duplicate or move the resources between topics.

How do I register for the events advertised in the Weather Training calendar?

Every event description should include a link which will lead you to the registration page. Because of the fact that most of the events which appear in the Weather Training calendar are being organized by other institutions, the registration process is handled outside this website.

What's new in the navigation?

You can dock and undock blocks, also the Navigation and Settings block. You can do it by pressing a square dock button in the upper right corner  of each block. Then the docked block will appear on the left hand side.

Why does the lightbox gallery activity seem to be gone?

If you were using the lightbox gallery in the past in your Moodle courses, you may notice that it is not available any longer. This activity is a plug-in, that’s why it has to installed separately. The activity is momentary unavailable, however the images you uploaded are still there. In order to retrieve the images:

  1. Go to the proper course.
  2. In the Settings block open the Legacy course files (formerly Files)
  3. Go to the directory you have created for the lightbox gallery.

The lightbox gallery plug-in will be installed soon.
